Up the Creek

My favourite spot down at the local creek. It's such a beautiful, peaceful place where all you can hear is the parrots squawking and occasionally a Ulysses butterfly flits past your head or a paradise kingfisher flies past. Many an hour or three wasted down here!

Billabong

The great Australian Billabong!!! We found this on our explorations the other week and had a great afternoon cruising through the bush taking photos and looking at the wildlife. We were lucky enough to spot quite a few dragons, sea eagles, and skinks but unfortunately no snakes!

The Wet

One of the things I love the most about where I live is the Wet Season. Its the thing the scares all the visitors away....but it brings out all the best things that the Tropics has to offer. Downpours that can dump so much rain in such a short amount of time that whole towns are cut off within hours, people use boats instead of cars and wildlife is abundant!

Cyclone Sky

I spotted this amazing cloud formation was just off the beach during our Wet Season last year. It was the first signs of Tropical Cyclone Olga which was threatening to hit land not far from our house! A scary, yet strangely exciting time as we moved all loose objects into the house, strapped down things that couldn't be moved...and waited. In the end it never eventuated. But due to where we live the prospect of  more is pretty likely.
